About Meridian Collective

Meridian Collective is a network of seasoned, independent practitioners, giving clients the depth of a collaborative practice and the continuity of a dedicated partner.

What we provide & how we support

Three commitments that shape every engagement.

01 / Partnership

Dedicated partnership

Every engagement is led by a small, senior team with a single point of contact. We bring together the right mix of expertise for your challenge, providing personalized support grounded in collaboration, trust, and long-term partnership.

02 / Expertise

Deep expertise

Our collective brings experience across philanthropy, impact investing, nonprofit and foundation leadership, government, and mission-driven business. This breadth allows us to build the right team for each engagement and deliver practical, multidisciplinary guidance.

03 / Practice

Rooted in practice

Our work is shaped by real-world experience, not theory. We develop strategies that hold up in practice. This shows up in how we design, advise, and make decisions, centering the leaders and communities that have historically faced underinvestment because closing that gap is central to our work.

How we work

01

Intro conversation

You share what you're working on, and we tell you honestly whether we're the right team to help.

02

Scoping

We dig into goals, timeline, and the skills needed, then send a proposal with clear scope, team, and pricing.

03

Your team

We pair you with practitioners whose experience and working style fit, led by one consistent point of contact.

04

The work

We align on resources, needs, and goals, then build a plan together. You know what's happening at every stage.

The Meridian approach

Strategy is stronger when it's built alongside the people closest to the work.

About

Why Meridian exists, the principles that guide us, and how the collective works.

A network of seasoned, independent practitioners who assemble as one team around what each client actually needs.

Why we formed

Built from shared practice, trust, and a belief that the work is better done together

Meet the Collective →

Meridian Collective began with a shared vision: to close the gap between where resources sit and where they're needed most.

We met through the Just Economy Institute in 2024–2025, as a cohort of practitioners across philanthropy, impact investing, and community development, many of us at similar crossroads: consulting, but doing it alone. Over that year, we found something we didn't expect: real trust, complementary skills, and a shared belief that this work is better done together than alone.

Between us, we've worked inside and alongside every kind of institution: foundations and family offices, nonprofits and government agencies, academia, mission-driven businesses and philanthropic funds, and more. Our backgrounds and expertise span the globe, with experience across the US, Latin America, East Africa, and Asia. We also bring experience across sectors, from health and education, economic development, conservation and community finance. We're also a mix of thinking and communication styles.

Across all of this, we kept seeing the same thing: changemakers and teams with real vision and capability, working hard to serve their missions, but stretched too thin and under-resourced to do it well. We'd each been trying to help, one client at a time, as individual consultants. We realized we could serve our clients' missions better, not just our own, by doing this work in collaboration.

So we built a collective that draws on the full range of the members' expertise and assembles the right team for what each client actually needs, rather than working in isolation or handing clients off to whoever's available. It gives clients the benefit of a team's full range, not just one person's bandwidth, and gives us thought partnership as we build strategy and solve problems alongside them. When needed, we also draw on a broader network of trusted, values-aligned experts who complement our collective's expertise.

This breadth and depth is by design. It's what lets us build the right team for each client, rather than offer one-size-fits-all advice.

How we work

A collective built for clients

We work alongside our clients where we are most needed, either as long-term strategists or through shorter-term, defined engagements. However the engagement is structured, we begin the same way - aligning on values and goals first, then building the right approach from there.

Every engagement starts with a deep dive into your current needs, the work ahead, and the specific expertise and combination of skills required to move it forward. Many of the challenges our clients face are interconnected, requiring support across strategy, capital, leadership, partnerships, and implementation. Rather than applying a predefined scope or methodology, we assess each client's context and goals to define the work and build an engagement that fits the challenge.

From there, we look inward. We match each client with the practitioners on our team who bring the relevant experience, capacity, and working style for the moment. That intentional matchmaking ensures our clients receive support that feels tailored rather than templated.

While you benefit from the depth of a collective, you will always have a dedicated project lead as your consistent point of contact, someone who knows your work inside and out from start to finish. Depending on project scope, most engagements also bring in one to three additional specialists working alongside that lead, to give a deep bench of expertise on demand without the limits of a single person's time and knowledge.

Along the way, that means you are never carrying the work alone. You have thought partners who show up prepared, ask sharper questions, and push your thinking further than a single advisor could.

The result is more than a deliverable. You will have a strategy and relationships that hold up under real conditions, a team that understands your work well enough to shape it with you, and the confidence that comes from having the right expertise in your corner every step of the way.

We work alongside our clients where we are most needed: either as long-term strategists or on shorter-term, defined engagements.

What We Do

The challenges we support, and who we work alongside.

A high-level view of the problems Meridian helps clients navigate, framed broadly rather than as a fixed services menu.

Challenges & opportunities we support

Many of the challenges our clients face are interconnected, requiring support across strategy, capital, leadership, partnerships, and implementation. We support work such as:

  • Designing and launching impact funds
  • Developing capital deployment strategies
  • Building and refining philanthropic portfolios
  • Organizational strategy during growth or transition
  • Program and initiative design
  • Cross-sector partnerships
  • Facilitation and stakeholder engagement
  • Narrative and communications strategy
  • Governance and leadership advising
  • Community needs and landscape assessments

And beyond — supporting the evolving needs and opportunities our clients bring to us.

Capital & strategy

Capital and strategy are inseparable.

A strategy without resources, and capital without intention, lead to the same outcome. We help clients design, deploy, and align resources in service of meaningful, lasting impact.

As a collective of practitioners who have worked inside foundations, funds, academia, nonprofits, government, and mission-driven businesses across sectors and geographies, we bring the range of experience needed to build the right team for each client. We don't begin with a predefined scope or standard methodology — every engagement is built around the expertise the work requires and grounded in real conditions that hold up in practice.

Who we work with

Individuals, families, communities and institutions moving capital and strategy toward a more just, sustainable, and inclusive economy — often at critical moments of transition or innovation.

Capital holders

Deploying with intention

Foundations, family offices, DAF holders, and high-net-worth individuals — including new wealth holders, women, and next-generation leaders — looking to deploy resources more intentionally.

Capital seekers

Building to last

Nonprofit leaders, cooperative developers, social entrepreneurs, and mission-driven founders building solidarity-economy, community-ownership, and justice-centered initiatives, structures, and business models that need to stand up to real-world pressure.

Ecosystem builders

Doing the connective work

Accelerators, coalitions, networks, field-builders, and other intermediary organizations aligning capital, strategy, and community, who need facilitation or program design support to grow their impact.

How our work spans

Bridging capital and communities, across borders.

Our collaborative work spans capital strategy and deployment, fund and program design, organizational strategy through growth and transition, narrative and communications strategy, facilitation and convening, and cross-border work bridging U.S. capital with community-led efforts internationally.

Work With Us

How an engagement begins, and what working together looks like.

Start with a conversation focused on the challenge, context, timing, and what would help move the work forward.

Is this a fit?

A few signals to help you decide before the first conversation. The strongest engagements tend to start with an open question, a meaningful moment of change, and room to shape the answer together.

Likely a strong fit

  • You're moving capital or strategy toward outcomes that don't fit neatly into existing models.
  • You need support that covers capital, organizational strategy, storytelling, and community all at the same time.
  • You're facing a time of change, growth, or reinvention, and the outcome really matters.

May not be the right fit

  • You're looking for extra staff or help with execution, rather than a strategic partnership.
  • The decision is already made.
  • The work is not values-aligned or mission-based.

Ways we work together

However the engagement is structured, we begin the same way — values and goals first, then the right approach for the moment.

Ongoing

Strategic partnership

For long-term work — building a fund, guiding an organization through change, or shaping a capital strategy over several months — we become part of your team, bringing in the right people as your needs change.

Defined

Project engagement

Projects with a clear start and finish, like designing a fund or program, creating a capital strategy, developing your story and communications, or setting up a new structure.

Facilitation

Facilitation & convening

Retreats, board meetings, cohort design, and stakeholder work — guiding tough conversations where an outside perspective is needed.

Focused

Advisory sprint

Short, focused support when you need help making a decision, want an urgent assessment or second opinion, or want to stress-test a plan before moving forward.

What the process looks like

Intro conversation

You share what you're working on, and we'll let you know honestly if we're the right team to help.

02

Scoping

If it's a good match, we dig deeper into your goals, what needs to be done, likely challenges, your timeline, and the skills required. You'll get a proposal with clear details about the scope, team, and pricing — not just a standard SOW.

03

Your team

We pair you with a team whose experience and working style fit your work. You'll have one main contact leading the initiative, supported by the collective.

04

The work

We begin by making sure we're on the same page — resources, needs, and goals — then create a plan together. You'll know what's happening and why at every stage.
